about

Ride is the 4th album by Lluc Casares as a leader. It reconnects Lluc with the city of Amsterdam (where he studied and lived for 5 years) inviting one of the best guitarists in the world, Jesse Van Ruller. The group is completed by the semifinalist of the Thelonious Monk competition Xavi Torres; the Finnish double bassist based in New York Kaisa Mäensivu and one of the most in-demand drummers on the Iberian Peninsula, Andreu Pitarch.

The album is recorded around a concert at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam. This show was postponed up to two times during the pandemic but it finally took place in September 2022. The day before the concert, the album was recorded. The album includes a live song from the concert itself.

It is the first album by Lluc Casares with a small group, it is recorded in the same room and there are no edits, the music tries to be fresh and spontaneous as it could be live. Most of the pieces are written by Lluc with the exception a song by Xavi Torres, another by Quincy Jones and a classic from the standard repertoire.
